Concert Information

Iron Acton Proms in the Meadow 2018

Concert Arrangements
For those of you who haven't done this before, it's an open air concert with the audience picnicing in the meadow. The stage is a 'clam shell' shape, so open at the front but covered and closed on 3 sides. The gates open for the audience at 5pm and there is entertainment starting from 6pm before we start at 7.15pm. The evening finishes with fireworks; they're set off from behind the stage, so be prepared!!

Programme: Please see section below this article.

LOCATION:

Iron Acton Meadow.

Parking is in the Parish hall car park.

Iron Acton Parish Hall,
High St,
Iron Acton
Bristol BS37 9UH.

There is about a 5 minute walk from the car park to the meadow. If you have bulky instruments or need to park closer, please come and see me on Monday evening if you haven't already emailed Marilyn.

After the rehearsal, the Parish Hall is our base where we can get changed and there will be sandwiches, cakes tea/coffee etc waiting for us. Please note, the village hall is locked during the concert.

Setting up: Just after Lunch TBC (last year from 1ish).

Please can we have plenty of help to sort out chairs stands etc. and bring all the percussion instruments onto the stage.

Rehearsal: Sat down and ready to play (last year it was at 1.30pm) TBC; we should be finished by 4.30pm and there will be a break.

Music Stands: If you have a black or silver stand, that would be preferred. If you have a spare black or silver stand, please could you bring it along to lend anyone without.

Remember to bring magnets and/or pegs as it can be windy and lights if required, though the lighting is usually good.

CONCERT DRESS (see Concert Etiquette article):

Ladies: Floor length black dress/skirt/trousers, black top, black tights/shoes.

Gents: Black DJ and tie, black shoes/socks, white shirt.

You can get changed after the rehearsal in the Parish Hall.

If the weather is hot, the afternoon can be like rehearsing in a bread oven! However, be aware it can get cold during the second half of the concert as the sun sets behind the stage.

CONCERT: 7.15-10.15 pm

Please don't sit down more than 5 minutes before unless you have specific things to sort out....it avoids embarrassing silences!

Please return all music straight after the concert.
